Disney Cruise Line - Magic and Wonder

Disney Cruise Line is one of the smallest and newest cruise lines, yet one of the most distinctive. Despite having only started in 1998, Disney Cruise Line is rapidly gaining a reputation as a leader in the cruise line business – even for recently married couples.

Disney Cruise Line Ships and Itineraries

The Disney Cruise Line has only two ships: the Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic. Both are megaliners capable of carrying approximately 1,800 passengers. Since it is quite popular with children, however, up to 3,300 passengers may be on board the ship at any time because children require less space than adults. Both ships combine the magic of Disney with the look and feel of a Victorian cruise liner, which creates a truly unique experience.

Despite the ship you take for your excursion, you will depart from Port Canaveral in Florida for your trip. This port is located 50 miles from Orlando and from Walt Disney World. Since the port is located so close to the famous theme park, it offers special land-and-sea packages that allow you to spend three to four nights at the theme park in addition to your cruise excursion.

The three and four night itineraries are Bahamas cruises that take you to Nassau and to Castaway Cay, which is Disney’s private Bahamian island. Or, you can choose to take a seven night Caribbean cruise. The Western Caribbean cruise takes you to the Grand Cayman, Key West, and Cozumel while the Eastern Caribbean cruise takes you to St. Thomas and St. Martin. In either case, the itinerary also includes a stop at Castaway Cay.

Activities Aboard Disney Cruise Line Ships

All activities aboard Disney Cruise Lines are filled with magic and wonder – even eating. Three themed restaurants are offered onboard and offer a revolving-dining-room experience. Popular Disney films and color-transforming walls add to the magical Disney atmosphere. Alternatively, you can choose to dine at a casual buffet or to take advantage of room service. There is also a more subdued reservations-only restaurant just for adults. Here, you can enjoy fine Italian cuisine, though there is a cover charge.

All of the entertainment options on the Disney Cruise Line revolve around family themes. Therefore, a Disney Cruise is a great option if either you or your new spouse has children and you want to include them in your honeymoon getaway. At the same time, you can thoroughly enjoy a Disney Cruise without taking children along. Evening shows containing medleys from popular Disney movies take place each night, as well as family game shows. There are also lounges for adults only containing piano, jazz, sports bar, and nightclub themes. Or, you can take in a movie at the theater.

It is also possible to get a workout on your Disney cruise. The gyms on the Disney Cruise Line are smaller than average cruise lines, but contain state of the art equipment. At the spa, you can enjoy a sauna, private treatment rooms, and a steam rooms. You can also take advantage of pampering treatments, manicures, and massages.
